About the piece ...
This etching is from a portrait photograph taken by Tony Figueira a famous Namibian photographer and friend. Tony inspired most of my early portrait drawings especially with his work documenting the beauty and majesty of the OvaHimba people of Northern Namibia and his work in Angola after the war. Etching is the process of using acid to cut into the unprotected parts of a metal plate to create an image. The plate is then put through a high-pressure printing press with a sheet of paper. The process can be repeated many times.
